Ready to Lay the Subfloor

Time to put away the metal working tools for a little bit and return to woodwork. I'll be ordering the plywood tomorrow and we hope to start laying the floor next week.

Ryan's been a welding madman the last several weeks - adding gray tanks, fixing the step, building a spare tire carrier and tackling what seemed like a never ending list of little fixes along the way. But yesterday it was time to paint. And boy did he get at it. Two coats of POR 15 on the entire frame and then at least 3 coats of silver on the exposed areas like the tongue, step, wheel wells and bumper. It looks great.

Those of you paying close attention might have noticed that about a month ago I said we could be painting within a week. Well it sure wasn't for lack of effort. Ryan's been working is tail off whenever he can, but life always seems to get in the way of steady progress on our hobbies. Between sick kids (both theirs and ours), the holidays, and weather delays (it was down to 16 degrees two weeks ago and this morning I thought we were going to need an ark), it took a little longer than we hoped to get to the painting. Oh well, it's done now and overall we are moving at a very good pace.

  1. That's a beautiful frame, Norm.

Weather has been tough, hasn't it? By the time I have mine warmed up, it's time to stop working. Days are getting longer now, though. :)
